How do I apply?

If you are in Year 11 of a Leicester or Leicestershire school or community college, or currently enrolled at another college of Further Education, you will be given the opportunity to apply online using the Leicestershire Common Application Process (LeCAP).

Advice will be given on how to complete the form.

If you have left school or live outside Leicester or Leicestershire, please contact the College directly to ask for an application form:

Some courses may be closed before the end of May if they attract a high number of applications so please apply as early as possible.

Course costs  

Gateway College offers free tuition and exam fees for learners aged between 16 and 18 (as on 31st August 2011) and are eligible according to funding rules for UK or qualifying EU residents. Learners over 19 on 31st August 2011 who are not eligible for fee remission may be charged tuition fees. Details available from Student Services

International and overseas applicants

Gateway College cannot accept applications from outside the EU from international or overseas students who have to apply for a Student Visa from the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA ) in order to be eligible for study in the UK.

Gateway College prospectus for 2012 entry is published detailing the College offer. The prospectus can be obtained online or from Gateway College.

Oct – Dec 2011

The liaison period

Visits to schools by Gateway staff and students to explain the application process and answer any questions regarding the College and entry in 2012.

Sat Nov 19th 2011

10.00am   – 13.00pm

GATEWAY COLLEGE OPEN MORNING

 The College is open to prospective students and their parents/carers to discuss any aspect of post-16 education. Staff and students are available to discuss individual courses and programmes of study.

Dec 2011 – Jan 2012

The application period

Students should apply online using the LeCAP system. For those students who do not apply through their school or college or who live in the county, application forms can be obtained from the College (telephone 0116 274 4500) and the website.

Feb – April 2012

Interview period

All students who apply to Gateway as their first or second choice are guaranteed an interview at the College. Provisional course choices will be discussed and questions answered. Results of the interviews will be notified and offers of places will be made promptly.

March – May 2012

Decision time

Applicants should decide whether to accept or decline the offers made.

Only one offer may be accepted.

Jul – Aug 2012

College induction

The College will issue each student with an induction appointment letter. This

will contain details of when to arrive, who to see and what documents are required. Every student will have an individual appointment.
