Learners like their College and its support
Gateway College achieved yet another first recently when it became the first post 16 provider in the country to be visited by Ofsted under the new super strict inspection framework. Despite being in only its second week with students in their new buildings, with packing cases barely opened and everyone learning about the new facilities and how to find their way around, Ofsted chose Gateway as their post 16 sector inspection guinea pig.
The College came out of the week long process with their overall effectiveness of provision being defined as satisfactory in a new experimental framework that concentrates purely on raw data, but increasingly listens to student views as an additional review element.
Perhaps the students at Gateway College are the best judges of performance and the most astute in looking at the wider provision offered to them. The Ofsted report notes the as emphasising how they like the way the college listens to and respect their views; the growth of self esteem and confidence supported by the college, the prompt support for any student with problems and how they enjoy their learning.
