Gateway college celebrates 500,000th student visit to Disney’s 'The Lion King' in London

On Thursday 30th September 2010, the London production of Disney's THE LION KING welcomed its 500,000th student as part of the show's acclaimed Education Programme.

The 500,000th school pupil was part of a group of 6th form students from Gateway College, who were visiting London specifically to see THE LION KING. Following the performance the entire group were treated to an exclusive backstage tour of this award-winning musical where they had the opportunity to meet some of the cast.

Daryl Pascall, Deputy Head of Arts at Gateway College said: "As teachers, we want to provide our students with the opportunity to experience a theatrical performance in London. For many this is the first time they will do so and THE LION KING is a particularly magical production - the memory of which will stay with them forever. This experience will be an invaluable asset in their studies, aided by the production's comprehensive Education Programme."

"More immediately though, their visit and backstage tour will serve as inspiration for the creation of the College's annual Fashion Show."

THE LION KING is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
