The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport is equivalent in size to 3 A Levels and is typically the sole qualification in a two-year full-time 16-19 study programme. This qualification provides you with a comprehensive coverage of the sector, allowing you to progress to a range of sport-related courses in higher education.
1st year: 90-Credit Diploma in Sport (Equivalent to 1.5 AS Level)
2nd year: Extended Diploma in Sport (Equivalent to 3 A Level)
5 or more GCSEs grade C/5 or above including English Language and where possible a grade C/5 or above in Maths. A Merit at Level 2 BTEC Sport is preferred.
Assessed by the completion of assignments given by a set deadline in 10 different units.

Sports Nutrition, Psychology for Sports Performance, Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport, The Athlete’s Lifestyle, Sports Injuries, Analysis of Sports Performance, Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport, Organising Sports Events, and Work Experience in Sport.
The course aims to: Develop an understanding of how the human body and mind work to effectively participate in activity. Develop knowledge and understanding of a range of activities and environments within the sports sector.
Level 3 BTEC Sport is recognised as an equivalent to A-level PE and is suitable for University, College or other Higher Education entrance. Alternatively the practicality of the course prepares you well for work based learning and/or apprenticeships. Over the 2 years you will study 9 mandatory units and 9 optional units giving you a combined total of 180 credits which is the equivalent of 3 A Level. Alternatively, you can complete the first year and achieve 90 credits which is the equivalent of an 1.5 AS Level
This course is assessed only by coursework – no exams. You will be required to participate fully in all practical aspects of this course.
