This autumn term, both first and second year Level 3 Vocational Art and Design students have been working on a fine art drawing project. Inspired by artists such as Van Gogh, Mark Powell and Ed Fairburn, students have produced their own personal responses to the project brief and have chosen to address some of this year’s most poignant political and social issues including Black Lives Matter (BLM), Mental Health and the Corona Virus.
Students have included drawings of family members who have been key workers during the pandemic, snapshots from the BLM protests and key headlines and newspaper articles as grounds to draw on. Some students have also focused on the theme of identity exploring family relationships or exploring their own identities and heritage through the use of maps.
We are very proud of what the students have produced during what has been a difficult term and have decided to really celebrate their work with this online exhibition and a physical exhibition in college for staff and students to enjoy.
